Each dish is carved with a Stihl chainsaw, polished smooth on one side, emblazoned with a maker's mark, and finished with mineral oil. The carving method produces attractive dips and valleys in the surface of the platter, perfect for holding your own still lifes in place.
The series was created by the French/Finnish Olivier Lellouche of the rough and ready design collaborative De Stihl. It was designed especially for the UK-based DesignMarketo, on the occasion of their dinner at the Barbican in March 2011.
One of a kind.
