Forthcoming from Koenig Books this October is Valeria Napoleone's Catalogue of Exquisite Recipes, a book that mixes classic recipes from the author's childhood in Lombardy with a works by artists in her female-only collection. The book was designed by Åbäke, who created an idiosyncratic custom typeface "reflecting Napoleone's personality." Above, Åbäke's Maki Suzuki begins what looks to be pasta (photo by Åbäke).
A sampling of the recipes: Salvia fritta (Deep-fried sage), Polpettone di tonno (Tuna loaf), Olive all’ascolana (Ascolana-style stuffed olives), Sugo ‘Cala di Volpe’ alle vongole e bottarga (‘Cala di Volpe sauce with clams and smoked mullet roe), Risotto con salsiccie (Risotto with sausages), Pasta e fagioli (Pasta and bean soup), Polenta al burro tostata (Buttered toasted polenta), Arrosto di vitello al latte (Roast veal with milk), Bruscitti piatto tipico Lambardo (Minced beef Lombardy-style), Polpette casalinghe (Homemade meatballs), Orata alla mediterranea (Mediterranean- style sea bream), Scampi all’aceto balsamico (Prawns with balsamic vinegar glaze), Melanzane alla parmigiana (Aubergine parmigiana), Broccoletti all’acciuga (Broccoli with anchovies), Torta Pasqualina (Artichoke pie), Tiramisu, Crostata di ricotta (Ricotta cake), Gelato economico (Easy ice cream).
Our favorite is Gelato economico. We already put in our pre-order at Amazon and are currently scheduling dinner parties.
